Drexel University Online has partnered with the United States Distance Learning Association for a second year in a row to celebrate NDLW. Throughout the week, Nov. 10th through 14th colleges, universities and schools (higher ed and k-12) across the U.S. will be hosting events and webinars to educate the public about distance learning. The USDLA is sponsoring free webinars on topics including Integration of Virtual Education, Sharable Learning, Social Networking, Global Education, Game-based Learning, Virtual Worlds and Simulation, Going Green and a host of institutional sponsored events. NASA will also be celebrating its 50th Anniversary during a 10-hour birthday event on November 13th. Today, Drexel Online will host an awards ceremony on Drexel's campus honoring people who have made an impact on distance learning and educational technology. First Lady Laura Bush will receive the 2008 Leadership Award for her commitment to information literacy and digital technology and PA Governor Ed Rendell will receive the same award for his commitment to educational technology in the state of PA. Drexel will also honor nine online instructors for their use of innovative technology in their online classrooms. Independence Blue Cross wil be recognized for their use of distance learning tools in their employee training and development practices. The event will be held at the Bossone Research Center, between 31st and 32nd Streets on Market, from Noon to 2:30 p.m. More than 100 faculty and staff are expected to attend.
Also, Drexel Online, will host free Online Open Houses and anyone who registers and attends an event during the month of November will be entered to win one of five Ipod Touches.
